Who doesn’t love food?! Esp. cookies! This year, instead of gifting something to everyone in our family (we have a big one!), we’re putting together homemade cookies and DIY desserts in mason jars. These are not only practical, but fun to do, too! I bought some cookie tins at the dollar store so not only can they re-use the tin, but it was only $1ea.!

To me, photos are not considered “stuff.” As a photographer, I think photos are a great way to capture timeless memories that you can always look back on. Put together a photo album or fill picture frames with classic memories from the past. There are so many sites where you can order photo prints and a photo book, so you don’t have to spend extra time looking for the right photo album. This year, give the gift of memories.

I’m a huge fan of gift cards, especially when you’re running out of time to buy something. Although they might seem a little impersonal, they really do make the perfect gift for those who don’t want “stuff.” This is a great alternative to just “stuff,” and the gift-receiver can go buy whatever they want. Plus, gift cards take up very little room, too!

You’ve heard the saying, “It’s the thought that counts,” Right? Nowadays, you can virtually learn anything online. Try researching some handmade gift items, like scarves, personalized mugs, plates, and more. These gifts take on more meaning than just being a “gift.”

know, this is a tricky one. Since I’m a photographer, I often gift people with a gift card for a photography session with me. Yes, it’s time-consuming for you, but it’s an opportunity to do something that they really want. Can you design? Design them a pretty print for their home or office. Are you fashion-savvy? Offer a personal-styling session at your local mall to help them update their wardrobe. Good at makeup? Offer a couple free makeup sessions for upcoming events, or just because!

Subscription boxes are all the rage right now, and for a good reason! There are so many box choices for almost every lifestyle. I’m a huge advocate for subscription boxes- for both myself and as gifts! Like in my Boxycharm review, I told you guys how much I LOVE that delivery, and I get SO excited to get it! I once gifted three months of leggings… how cool! Do a quick google search and you’ll be sure to find a box that suits their needs… men, women, kids—even pets!
  • Boxycharm (my FAVORITE!!) [beauty] – reserve here
  • Southern Cigar Co. [men’s// cigars] (Matt’s Favorite!!) – shop here
  • Birchbox Women // Men [beauty] – shop here
  • HelloFresh [home-delivered meals] – here

annnnd that’s a wrap for this gift guide! I hope this sheds some light on ideas that aren’t just “stuff,” and you bring meaning back into the spirit of gift giving! Let me know in the comments if you bought anything or if you have any other ideas that I can add!
